BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tax revenue at Beijing customs jumped more than 40 percent year-on-year to reach 22.9 billion yuan (about 2.9 billion U.S. dollars) from January to September, according a report released on Saturday.

The Beijing customs branch has already achieved its tax revenue goal for all of 2006, which was set to be 22.7 billion yuan (2.8 billion U.S. dollars), said the report.

During the first three quarters of the year, Beijing completed foreign trade valued at 41.4 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 41.5 percent compared over the same period last year.

The imports reached 24.9 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year growth of 43.6 percent, the report said..

Imports were mainly IT products, mobile phone accessories, communication equipment and spare parts for motor vehicles.

Exports of Beijing-made integrated circuits, computer monitors and textiles also grew.

Beijing customs said it has simplified export or import procedures to enhance efficiency. Enditem
