Sales growth of external hard drives in China slows in Q1
BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Sales growth of external hard drives slowed in China in the first quarter, as a result of the traditional low sales season.

Sales of external hard drives hit 506,900 units in the first three months, up 28.9 percent year on year, but lower than the 44.1 percent year-on-year growth in 2007, said Beijing-based CCIDC Consulting company in its report.

Purchasing and buying power decreased in the first quarter after the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday.

The report also said that although this was a normal sales slowdown, demand from individual buyers continues to increase.

CCIDC's statistics show, individual buyers bought 47.7 percent of the external hard drives in 2007, and the figure increased to 49.3 percent in the first quarter of this year.

The country's home-grown brands Lenovo and Aigo topped the purchasing list. According to the report, Lenovo's products are mainly welcomed by individual buyers and the latter is comparatively favored by professional wholesale costumers.
