Japan's Nikkei close 1.42% higher 
TOKYO, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks close higher Monday with benchmark Nikkei index up 1.42 percent.

The Nikkei-225 index jumped 169.73 points to 12,090.59 from Friday.

The Topix index of all First Section issues advanced 19.57 points, or 1.70 percent, to 1,168.69.

On the First Section, advancing issues outnumbered declining ones 846 to 779, with 94 others remaining unchanged.

Trading volume on the main section went down to 2,048.98 million shares from Friday's 2,633.44 million.

The TSE's Second Section index gained 20.40 points, or 0.83 percent, to 2,464.82 on a volume of 59.57 million shares.

On the Osaka Securities Exchange, the near-term December Nikkei225 index futures contract rose 170 points to 12,050.
