SEOUL, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Samsung Electronics Co., South Korea's leading electronics company, announced Sunday that it will build a television plant in Russia with an investment of 57 million U.S. dollars to meet rising demand for digital TVs.

The plant will be built in the city of Kaluga, 85 km southwest of Moscow, and Samsung plans to finish the construction by October2008, the company said.

The plant is expected to produce 2.2 million digital TV sets annually by 2010, Samsung said.

Samsung has TV factories in seven foreign countries including China, Hungary and Brazil.
