| S Korea's current account comes to $924.7 mln surplus in May |
SEOUL, June 29 (Xinhua)-- South Korea's current account came toa surplus of 924.7 million U.S. dollars in May on the back of brisk exports of ships, steel and cars, the Bank of Korea said Friday.
The current account surplus in May was a turnaround from a revised deficit of 2.1 billion U.S. dollars in April, the Bank of Korea said. It was the first surplus in three months.
The seasonally adjusted current account surplus reached 146.5 million U.S. dollars last month, compared with a shortfall of 382.5 million U.S. dollars in April. The current account is the broadest measure of trade, service and investment flows into and out of the country.
The central bank forecasts South Korea's current account surplus will reach 2 billion U.S. dollars this year, down from 6.09 billion U.S. dollars last year, as a widening service account deficit is expected to undermine a strong trade surplus.
