China's used car sales soar amid auto boom
BEIJING, Mar. 15 (AP) -- Sales of used cars, trucks and buses in China soared 31.5 percent last year amid a boom that has made this country one of the world's biggest vehicle markets, state media said Thursday.

Sales at China's 255 main used-vehicle markets totaled 2.7 million, the Xinhua News Agency said, citing the Commerce Ministry. It said 70 percent were bought by individuals and 40 percent were sedans.

China's auto market has boomed in recent years, driven by double-digit national economic growth.

The country overtook Japan last year to become the world's second-largest vehicle market, after the United States, with 7.2 million new vehicles sold.
