China to regulate foreign capitals' merger

BEIJING, Feb. 8 -- China will continue to regulate foreign mergers and acquisitions of Chinese enterprises, Deputy Director of the Commerce Industry's Foreign Investment Bureau Sun Peng said.

People's Daily on Thursday reported Sun Peng spoke at the recent Summit on Transnational Corporations and the Sustainable Development of China. He said the government will investigate foreign investors' mergers and acquisitions of Chinese enterprises.

The investigation will target on anti-monopoly, fair competition, national economic security and the employees' rights in the merger.

The Assistant Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying at the summit said the government will stick to its policy of absorbing foreign investment in continuity and stability.

And China will adjust its foreign investor policy to encourage them to invest in the environmental protection and energy saving industry, the hi-tech industry and modern services. They will be discouraged from investing in industries that produce a lot of pollution and consume a lot of energy.
